Happy Towel Day!

Conversation from yesterday:

Me: Guess what day it is tomorrow.
Thor: Uh...Friday?
Me: Yes, that's true, but what else is it tomorrow?
Thor: It's the day you fly to California.
Me: Yes, that's true too, but what else is it?
Thor: ...
Me: Towel Day!
Thor: Towel Day?...Oh, Towel Day! That's the geekiest day ever. I have to do it!
Me: Me, too.

Conversation on the train to the airport this morning:

Thor: Guess what we forgot?
Me: ...
Thor: Towels.

The beauty of it though, is that 15 hours of travel later, I landed in San Francisco to find that it was still early afternoon on Towel Day. I was able to run errands with a towel in my possession. Sadly, it was in my bag, not making any kind of statement, but I still feel just that little bit hoopier knowing that I too am a frood who knows where my towel is.

Oh, I've heard of that book, must read it!
I carried a towel, but only in the bathroom...hmmm
Just a minute ago you were in Denmark, now you're in San Francisco! Planes travel fast...
Hope you have a nice visit!

Damn! I can't believe I missed Towel Day! I feel like Know Nothing Bozo, The Non-Wonder Dog.

San Francisco is closer than Denmark but still pretty far away from me. Too bad. We could have had some fun. You be sure to enjoy your time with your family. I heard that Spamalot was going to be in Las Vegas for a while. I gotta see that.

damn, I missed it.

Chloe, next year, I'll try to remember to post something about it in advance. Which means that I probably will forget it completely!

Ms. Black Scorpio, the weather is really nice, not too hot, not too cold. I'm sorry to hear it is raining.

Vanessa, I will try to have a good visit...so far it's been pretty relaxing, all things considered.

Ms. Mood, you should read it. Everyone should read it. It's one of the great cultural references of our time, I think.

Roro, I feel the same way, in that I never knew it existed until this year!

Daphnewood, will do...and I will make it to see you eventually, I promise. I'm sure it will be fun. As for Las Vegas, when we were there (in April), we saw Penn and Teller. Who were fabulous.

Kunstemæcker, mark your calendar for next year. Then you can remind me!

Oh, I hadn't realized you were going back again, we almost met at the airport, then! So, will you be going to California once a month, now...? I loved your city, btw, and I will elaborate...

kimananda sagde ...

Yep, I'm back...I didn't realize that I was going back until a couple of days before, after you were already there. And I don't think I'll be going back monthly...just this time for as long as is needed.

Thanks for the postcard, by the way...Thor read it to me over the phone! It sounds like you had a fabulous time!
